Delighting in coming unto God

What do men come to hear the Word of God for? What do they pray for? What do they expect to receive from him? Do they come unto God as the eternal fountain of living waters? As the God of all Grace, peace and consolation? Or do they come unto his worship without any design as unto a dry and empty show?…Or do they think they bring something unto God, but recieve nothing from him?…To receive anything from him they expect not, nor do they ever examine themselves whether they have done so or no?…It is not for persons who walk in such ways, ever to attain a due delight in the ordinances of divine worship.  [John Owen]

Yeah, I have three different types of sleep disorders but that one is not one of them, so understand.

I can relate a little, as apnea fatigue makes academic work very difficult at times.

Hi Russ,

I try to stop by your kingpin, at least once a week, health permitting, but sometimes don’t make it over. A) I find your posts often a bit above me, (theologically and brain power wise) and also I have so many irons in the fire, online, with my health the way it is, sometimes just keeping up with those, which I don’t always manage to, can take everything I’ve got. My own blogging activity at this url has slowed down considerably as I do other things. Online is the ONLY way I have a chance to do anything for Christ’s Kingdom, blah di blah. But those are the reasons I don’t stop by as often as I would perhaps like to. Mind you, I don’t mean to imply I’m stupid, (!) no more than the average Christian, but my brain is under attack as much as every other part of my body in this illness.
